Happy Friday Maker! How has your week been? Mine has been frustrating because I have exams next week and I have been studying non stop. I can’t explain how much I need to take a break. So, I’m going to take out an hour from cramming and make something simple for my room. And since, this week has been all about words, I’m thinking of ways in which quotes can be displayed in a room. Here’s what I found, while looking for ideas!
First up, this amazing light box message board by I Spy DIY. I’ve seen readymade ones in the market and they are so expensive! So, when I saw a DIY tutorial for the idea, I was stunned and excited about making it myself. You can make one too, using the steps mentioned here.
We also talked about letters, with our tutorials on 3 ways to make initials that can be placed, hung or nailed in any space. It’s a great example of how you can make variations in a design simply and easily. Click here for the tutorials.
I LOVE this idea of a handwritten wall by A Beautiful Mess. To the extent, that I’ve even planned out, what I would write (excerpts from my favourite books). And, I can’t wait to try it out! You can make it, as well using the tutorial given here.
This post it wall is a genius idea by Apartment Therapy. Not only does it look absolutely brilliant. It’s so functional. Imagine, having a wall where you could write down messages and then take them off and carry them with you. Also, the layers of colors look beautiful! You can read more about it here.
Another interesting idea is to have a wall of clipboards. This tutorial by Brit + Co teaches you how to make these functional clipboards that will add a pop of color to your room. And, you can switch the messages as you like. Perfect! Check out all the details here.
My reaction to this chalkboard wall by Inspired By This can be summed up in one word – WOW! It is a delicate design, that can be adapted in a variety of ways. I especially, like the frames that they have created which can be used for drawings, notes or anything else. To read more, use this link.
We made this personalised scrabble board for my scrabble-addict grandma a while back. And, it still has a place of honour in her living room. I’m going to take that as a confirmation that this was a good idea. Click here to see the tutorial 🙂
