Sometimes, I feel like my life is an endless cycle of packing and unpacking, for trips. And, when you’re on the road (or in the air) that often, you really want all your stuff with you. For me, that means I need my tablet with me, at all times. Forgetting it, is just not an option. I’m sure, you feel the same way about a lot of things while travelling, and understand how frustrating it can be to forget something important. Which is exactly why, I have an extensive list, that I have for every trip.
To make this easier (because come on, I’m not writing the same 40 things, 3 times a month), we designed lists that can just be printed & used, whenever we need them. Making my life, so much easier.
Like most organised people, I have a system. Which includes, 4 broad categories that include everything from electronics, to cosmetics to clothes to medical supplies. Needless to add, it can get a bit chaotic when you start packing. That’s why, the first step in our process, is to download the printables,
Once, we have the needed lists, we start with the general requirements that cover our travel documents, electronics and medication. An easy way, is to go one item at a time & start collecting, while ticking the items. Think about whether you really need each item. For example: you don’t need to carry your passport for a local trip & the item can be crossed off the list. It’s also, a good idea to mark everything that is missing, so you remember to go and pick it up later.
The next set, includes personal items and hygiene related products. This is a wide category & I usually do this checklist last, so that I remember to put in my toothbrush. It’s also, where a lot of miscellaneous items get added. Which is why, we’ve left the lines at the bottom of the list.
Lastly, this list covers items you may or may not need on a flight. This really comes in handy, for long flights. Can you imagine being on a plane for 6 hours, without a book, tv, wifi or anything to do. I can’t!
One of my major problems, used to be clothes. I would inevitably forget socks or not get enough shirts. That’s why having a list of everything I need, is useful. That way, I’m not stuck with 7 scarves & no formal shirts for a work trip (It has unfortunately, happened to me). Similarly, you have a process for packing makeup – primer, foundation, blush and so on.
Similarly, we made a list of everything men would need. Misusing the obvious things, like curlers and adding things like cologne. Though, I’m pretty sure, I’ve missed out on things on this list. Let me know, what I need to add!
That’s it – our way of making sure each trip is fun and/or productive, without the hassle of packing. Hope the lists make your life easier too! Let me know, in the comments, what products I should add to the list & what other lists you would like to see!
